The body of Duncan Templer, 51, of Hillsboro, N.D., who apparently committed suicide in the Badlands south of Watford City in July, may have been found by hunters.
According to a news release from the McKenzie County Sheriff’s Dept., on Sept. 28 hunters found the body of a deceased male, believed to be Templer, east of U.S. Highway 85 off of Forest Service Road 828.
Templer, who has been missing since July 24, had told members of his family that he intended to commit suicide in the Badlands.
After his semi truck was found parked in a scenic overlook 22 miles south of Watford City, an intensive search was conducted of the area. After a week of searching without finding Templer’s body, the search was called off because of the rugged terrain in which the search was being conducted.
According to the news release, the Sheriff’s Dept. believes that the body found is that of Templer. The body was found approximately three miles east of Templer’s last known location.
There were no signs of foul play and the deceased body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner for positive identification.
