Wolves advance to Region 7 baseball tournament action

With wins over New Town and Williston Trinity Christian last week, Watford City will be advancing to the Region 7 Tournament as the No. 3 seed.
“We will play Lewis and Clark-Parshall at home this Friday evening in the first regional game,” stated  Justin Johnsrud, Wolves’ head coach. “This will be the first region game, and then we will travel to Minot on Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday to finish up the Region 7 Tournament.”
The regional tournament is double elimination with the championship team advancing to the State Tournament.
During action last week, the Wolves split with Kenmare on Monday losing the first game of the double header 4-1 before coming back to win the second game 10-0.
Kevin Sanford was the losing pitcher in the first game while Christian Schulz earned the win in the second game.
On Tuesday, the Wolves took a pair from New Town blasting the Eagles 15-3 and 14-0. Dillon Langerud and Ben Haugeberg picked up the wins for the Wolves.
Watford City then closed out their regular season splitting with Williston Trinity Christian. James Neer picked up the win in the first game with Watford City outscoring the Crusaders 9-0 while Trey Jacobson was the losing pitcher in a 4-3 loss in the second game.
