Spikers head into District 15 Tournament action

After wrapping up its regular season play this past Tuesday, the Watford City Wolves varsity volleyball team will be heading into District Tournament action on Monday.
In opening round action of the District 15 Tournament on Oct. 31, which will be held at the New Town Northern Lights Center, Watford City, the No. 3 seed, will take on Parshall, the No. 6 seed, at approximately 7:30 p.m.
If the Wolves win over Parshall, Watford City will take on Trinity Christian in the second evening game on Tuesday, Nov. 1.
The District 15 Tournament concludes on Thursday, Nov. 3 with two regional qualifying matches to be played prior to the championship game. The top four teams from District 15 will advance to the Region Tournament, which will be held on Nov. 7, 8 and 10 in Tioga.
Heart River 3, Watford City 2
After losing the first two games against a very good Heart River team on Monday night, Watford City turned what looked like an easy win by the Cougars into an exciting five-game match.
Heart River blew by the Wolves in the first two games by scores of 25-14 and 25-12, but the Wolves weren’t ready to roll over. Watford City won games three and four by scores of 25-16 and 25-23, forcing a fifth game that saw the Cougars edging the Wolves 15-12.
Brianna Allex led the Wolves with 11 kills and 23 digs in the match, while McKayla Haugeberg had two service aces, 10 kills and 17 digs.
