Wolves end regular season play with win over Hazen

Watford City’s varsity volleyball team wrapped up its regular season play last Tuesday as the Wolves knocked off a very solid Hazen Bison team 3-2.
The Wolves are now competing in the District 15 Tournament, which got underway on Monday at the New Town Northern Lights Center.
In opening round action, the Wolves, the No. 3 seed in the tournament, made short work of Parshall defeating the No. 6 seed 3-0.
With the win, the Wolves pretty much assured themselves a trip to the Region 8 Tournament, which will be held on Nov. 7, 8 and 10 at the Tioga High School gymnasium.
Watford City 3, Hazen 2
It was a classic matchup between two equally balanced teams as the Watford City Wolves took on Hazen last Tuesday evening.
In a hard-fought match, the Wolves took the first two games defeating the Bison 25-23 and 25-22. But Hazen turned the tables on Watford City taking games three and four by scores of 25-14 and 25-16, which set the stage for the fifth game of the evening.
In the final game of the night, Watford City prevailed 15-9 to take the win.
McKayla Haugeberg had a big game for the Wolves as she had nine service aces, six kills and 15 digs to help lead Watford City to the win.

District 15 Tournament
First Round
Watford City 3, Parshall 0

Watford City’s offense and defense was firing on all cylinders in opening round action of the District 15 Tournament as the Wolves crushed the Parshall Braves in three quick games.
Watford City took the first game 25-19 and then rolled by the Braves 25-15 and 25-16 to advance to Tuesday’s semifinal matchup against Williston Trinity Christian.
McKayla Haugeberg had a big night for the Wolves as she led Watford City with eight kills and three service aces.
