As Watford City’s High School baseball team wraps up its regular season play, the Wolves swept Mohall and Des Lacs-Burlington in regional play this past week.
With the two wins, the Wolves sewed up the Region 7 regular season title for the third time in the past four years.
The Wolves will now be preparing for the Regional Tournament, which gets underway in Minot on May 16-20.
“Our pitching has been very good this year and our bats have been producing runs,” states Justin Johnsrud, Wolves’ head coach. “Last year, we pitched very well in the Region Tournament but our bats let us down. We will need to play well in all three phases of the game.
While the Wolves are undefeated in Region regular season play, Johnsrud knows that things can change at the Regional Tournament.
“We will have to play well in all phases of the game, pitching, hitting, defense,” states Johnsrud. “If we do, we have a great shot at winning the Region 7 Tournament and earning another trip to the State B Baseball Tournament.”
