Wolves win own tourney

The Watford City varsity girls volleyball team was definitely on a roll this past week as the Wolves picked up dual wins over Tioga and New Town, before winning the Watford City Invitational on Saturday.
This week, the Wolves will be on the road as they travel to Ray on Sept. 21.

Watford City 3, Tioga 0
Watford City made short work of  Tioga on Tuesday, Sept. 8, as the Wolves swept the Pirates in three quick games. The Wolves took the first game, 25-14, and then closed out the match by beating Tioga, 25-15, and 25-9, in the final two games of the match.
Katie Mogen led the Wolves with six kills, while ReiAnn Lindley had seven service aces.

Watford City 3, New Town 0
Watford City’s offense was working on all cylinders on Thursday, Sept. 10, as the Wolves rolled over the New Town Eagles 25-15, 25-12 and 25-8, to improve their dual season record to 4-0.
Ricki and ReiAnn Lindley provided Watford City’s scoring punch. Ricki led the Wolves with eight kills, while ReiAnn had seven service aces.
Katie Mogen led the team with three blocks, while ReiAnn Lindley had seven assists.

Watford City Tournament
Watford City cruised to a championship crown during the Watford City Invitational Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 12.
The Wolves beat New England, Bowman County, and Richard-Taylor during the first three games of pool play before taking the championship crown.
The Wolves bested Williston Trinity Christian, 25-19, and 25-14, to open the tournament action. In semifinal action of the Gold Division, the Wolves defeated the Bismarck High Sophomores, 25-21, in the first game, with the Demons coming back to take the second game, 25-18. Watford City then advanced to the title game with a 16-14 win over the Demons.
In two close games, Watford City downed Powers Lake, 25-18, and 26-24, for the championship crown.
No individual statistics were available from the tournament.
