Pee Wee Oilers take 5th place at State

The Watford City Oilers Pee Wee team traveled to Langdon for the State B3 Tournament on March 5-8, 2009.
The Oilers took to the ice against Jamestown/ValleyCity Black in their first game of the tournament on Friday morning and skated to a 3-1 win. Dalton Wright scored at 3:19 assisted by Daniel Marmon.  Steven Dettling scored the second goal with an assist from Cody Johnson. In the second period, JVC scored their only goal and the Oilers Cody Johnson shot in one more with an assist from James Miller and Wyatt Staal.
Goaltender Cody Bellon had a total of 20 saves in the game. 
Next up, the Oilers fell to the Grand Forks Mustangs 4-1 on Friday night.  After a scoreless first period, Grand Forks shot in three goals in less than a minute in the second period and one more in the third. Daniel Marmon was able to get the puck in the net late in the third period assisted by Ted Ramage and Erick Leiseth. 
Cody Bellon had a total of 37 saves.
On Saturday night, the Oilers defeated the Minot Ducks 4-3 in a loser-out game. The Oilers faced a must win situation to stay alive in tournament play.
Cody Johnson scored in the first period assisted by Steven Dettling and James Miller. The Ducks answered with a goal. Next, Ted Ramage scored assisted by Daniel Marmon for the lone goal of the second period.
The Ducks scored two goals in the third to go ahead of the Oilers 3-2. 
Ted Ramage tied the game with another assist from Daniel Marmon sending the game into overtime.
The Oilers fought back with the game winning OT goal by Daniel Marmon assisted by Ted Ramage.
Cody Bellon had a total of 22 saves in the game.
Sunday morning, the Oilers skated against the Minot Flyers in the Consolation Championship for fifth place in the tournament, and were hoping for their first win against the Flyers all season.
Daniel Marmon scored within 15 seconds of the first period assisted by Ted Ramage.  At 22 seconds, Ramage scored with an assist from Marmon.  Later in the period, Marmon scored again with assists from Ramage and Erick Leiseth.
The Flyers opened the second period with a goal but the Oilers answered with another goal by Marmon assisted by Ted Ramage.
The Flyers came back again to tie up the game 4-4 at the end of the third period, scoring with less than three seconds on the clock.
With the crowd chanting O-I-L-E-R-S the Pee Wees went into overtime fired up. The defensive unit of Dalton Wright, Wyatt Staal and Derrike Hayden fended off the Flyers. At 4:43 into the period, Steven Dettling scored the game winning goal assisted by James Miller for a thrilling 5-4 finish.
Cody Bellon had 19 saves in the game for a tournament total of 98 saves.
The Pee Wees are coached by Mark Dettling, Gary Ramage, Ricky Carns and Tanner Wold.
