Spikers see season come to a close

The Watford City varsity volleyball team saw its 2010 season come to a close last Thursday as the Wolves took fourth place at the Region 8 Volleyball Tournament in New Town.
The Wolves opened the tournament defeating Burke County 3-0 on Monday, but then were defeated 3-0 in their semifinal match with Divide County on Tuesday. In the battle for third place, the Wolves fell to Ray 3-1.
Watford City ended its season with a 23-12 record.
Watford City 3, Burke County 0
Watford City had 8 service aces and 46 kills on Monday as the Wolves defeated Burke County in three games to advance to the Region 8 semifinals. The Wolves took the first two games by scores of 25-22 and then finished the sweep of Burke County taking the third game 25-15.
Karson Pederson led the Wolves with four service aces, while Charlie Hystad had 14 kills.

Divide County, Watford City 0
It was a battle from start to finish as the Wolves took on Divide County last Tuesday in the Region 8 semifinals, but Watford City just couldn’t come up with the big points when they needed them.
In three close games, the Maroons edged the Wolves 25-22, 25-20 and 25-21 to advance to the title match.
Charlie Hystad led Watford City with nine kills, while Sierra Perdue had 14 digs.

Watford City wrapped up its 2010 season with a fourth place finish at the Region 8 Volleyball Tournament last Thursday as the Wolves fell to the Ray Jays 3-1.
In four very close games, the Rays edged the Wolves 25-21 in the first game with Watford City coming back to take the second game 25-22. But Ray would take the next two games by scores of 25-23 and 25-22 to claim third place.
The Wolves had 10 service aces and 39 kills against Ray.
Karson Pederson led the Wolves with five service aces, 10 kills and five blocks.
