Joseph Weber

Joseph “Joe” Michael Weber, 79, of Alexander, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at his home, following a short illness with cancer. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that he had touched in some way throughout his life.
A gathering to celebrate Joe’s life was held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at the Fulkerson Funeral Home in Williston. Friends may share memories and condolences with the family at www.fulkersons.com.
Joe was born Oct. 27, 1931, the son of Peter Frank and Mary Armosa (Gregoire), in Alexander, N.D. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Joe married Mary Lou Sutherland on Oct. 30, 1974, and they lived their married life in Alexander, N.D.
Joe was self-employed and was heavily involved in his community. He was a member of the Museum Board, Old Settlers Committee, City Council, Fair Board, Alexander Fire Department, Alexander Lions Club, Cemetery Board and served as the Mayor of Alexander. He enjoyed collecting pop cans, feeding the birds and deer, going to the gas station every morning to visit, playing 10½ at the café, and spending time with his family. He was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Mary Lou; daughter, Janice (Red) Bruins, of Alexander; daughter, Linda Monson, of Alexander; son, Bob (Laurie) Sutherland, of Blairsburg, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Eric, Jody, Jason, Jeff, Jesse, Sheri, Heidi and Julie; twelve great-grandchildren; twin brother, Art; brother, Don; four sisters, Dorothy, Ethel, Lorraine, and Helen; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Armosa; two brothers, Jim and Bud; seven sisters, Marie, Grace, Gert, Ruth, Effie, Gladys, Margie; son-in-law, Floyd Monson.
