Craig LeRoy Skaar, 39, from Killdeer, died Tuesday evening, Aug. 14, 2012, from a tractor accident at his home. Funeral service was Monday Aug. 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. and was held at the American Lutheran Church in Stanley. Burial was at the Fairview Cemetery, in Stanley. Family service was held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, at American Lutheran Church in Stanley.
Craig LeRoy Skaar was born Oct. 27, 1972 to Cliff and Judy (Dahl) Skaar in Tioga, N.D. He graduated from Stanley High School in 1991.  He married Tanya Ostdahl on Jan. 15, 1994. She was the love of his life! He was the proud dad of Cody, Kelsey, and Keri. He shared a special bond with his beloved wife, Tanya, and loved being a dad. He was very proud of his family and loved them dearly.
Craig loved to sing songs and was famous for singing Johnny Horton’s, “Battle of New Orleans.” He cherished his gopher hunting trips with his brother, Wade, and took first place in 2012 at Blaisdell. Craig always looked up to his big brother, Wade,  and would say, “No one messes with Wade! If I got in a situation, I’d want Wade to have my back. I’ve got your back now, big bro.” He loved to hunt deer with his dad, brother, wife, kids and his best friend, Rod Reiss. Craig’s special pals were his dogs, Goose and Ted. He was an avid Browning Lever Action Rifle collector and always maintained that guns were a good investment. He had a special bond with his brother-in-law, Lance, and thought of him as a brother. Craig truly loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his quick wit, laugh and smile. He especially loved to race 4-wheelers with his children.
He was co-owner of CR Autoglass in Dickinson. He lived in Killdeer with his wife Tanya, where they made their home for 16 years and raised their family. Last week, he and his wife purchased a farm 10 miles north of Stanley. He was moving home again. He planned to start a new windshield replacement company with his son, Cody, and brother, Wade, and that made him very proud and happy. He spent one night in his new home before dying in a tractor accident at his home in Killdeer while packing for his new adventure.
Craig was a devoted husband, father, son, and brother. We love and miss him and cherish the memory of our beloved Craig. Happy hunting until we meet again. Then and only then will our hearts be whole again.
