Vernon Johnson

Funeral services for Vernon Johnson, 87, of Watford City, N.D., are at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at the Garden Lutheran Church in rural Watford City with Pastor Rob Favorite officiating. Musical selections are provided by Julie Dragseth and Trish Skoglund. Casketbearers are Glen Skoglund, Ralph Skoglund, Doug Johnsrud, Larry Nelson, Roy Bergquist, and Robert Omlid. Usher is Arden Berg. Interment will be in the Garden Church Cemetery under the care of Fulkerson Funeral Home of Watford City, N.D.
Vernon was born April 19, 1926, in Garden Township, McKenzie County, N.D., the son of Axel and Clara (Anderson) Johnson. He was raised on the farm his parents homesteaded and was educated in the Garden community, attending the Nelson School. He was a member of the Garden Lutheran Church.
Vernon enjoyed visiting with his neighbors. He also enjoyed going to auction sales with his brother, Clarence. He had a special interest in John Deere tractors. Vernon lived on the family farm and farmed with Clarence.
After retiring from farming, Vernon moved to Watford City and resided at the Senior Citizen Center until entering the Good Shepherd Home.
Vernon died Thursday, May 9, 2013, at the McKenzie County Memorial Hospital in Watford City, N.D.
He is survived by his brother, Grant Johnson of Battle Ground, Wash.; his sister, Ethel Greenwood of Seattle, Wash,; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Axel and Clara Johnson, brothers; Clarence and Arthur, and sisters; Mae Johnson and Ida Urbahn.
