Anna Wisness

Funeral services for Anna Wisness, 95, of Watford City, N.D., were held at 11:00 a.m, Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at First Lutheran Church in Watford City. Interment will be in Schafer Cemetery, Watford City, N.D.
Anna Marie Nesseth Wisness was born Sept. 30, 1917, in Arnegard, N.D., to Gustav A. and Marit O. (Stavem) Nesseth. She spent most of her first eight years in the Arnegard area, except for one year at Williston. She moved with her family to her mother’s homestead five miles south of Watford City. She attended the Teepee Butte Grade School and graduated from the Watford City High School in 1935, then attended Bismarck School of Business. Following that Anna worked at the ASCS (FSA) office in Watford City until she was united in marriage to Arno Wisness June 8, 1941.
Anna was a dedicated and tireless worker. She was a person who did whatever was necessary to make the family successful. She worked not only to maintain a home and family life but also to be her husband’s right-hand “man” and a true partner in all his many endeavors, which included farming, ranching, tax accounting, and many other ventures. Anna was an active member of the First Lutheran Church and a proud member of the VFW Auxiliary. She entered the Good Shepherd Home on April 8, 2010.
Even though she lived her adult life in Watford City, she loved the farming life and enjoyed seeing a nice field of wheat and a fine herd of cattle. Her favorite pastimes were those times spent with Arno and her sons. Anna enjoyed bowling, fishing, and attending sporting events. She was especially proud of her grandchildren’s and relatives children’s sporting accomplishments. Anna rarely missed a Minnesota Vikings or Los Angeles Lakers game on TV.
Anna died on Saturday morning, August 24, 2013 at the McKenzie County Health in Watford City.
She is survived by her children Doug (Darlene) from Puyallup, Wash., and their children Doug (Teri) and their children Nate and Jake; Crystal (Chuck) and their children Jordan and Jace; and Justin (Sarah) and their son Henry. Rick (Nancy) from Watford City and their children Michael (Jennifer) and their sons Peyton and Parker; Scott (and his fiance’ Monique) and her children Jacob and Kaleb; Jennifer Beck (Andy) their son Alex and daughter Suzie; and Bob (Deb) Arnegard and their children Jessica Burns (Rusty) and his children Tucker and Riley; Valerie Colgrove (David) their sons Jack and Rogan; and Andrew (friend Jenn) and Matthew Wisness.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arno, her brothers Gus and Hjalmer Nesseth, and her sister Jenny Haynes.
