Hazel Larson

Funeral services for Hazel Larson, 91 of Lewiston, Idaho, formerly of Sidney, Mont., were held Friday, Feb.7, 2014 at Ebenezer Congregational Church in Sidney, Mont., with Pastor David Meehan officiating. Interment took place in  Richland Memorial Park in Sidney, Mont.  
Hazel Larson was born Dec. 1, 1922 in Sidney, Mont., the daughter of Harry and Vivian Kruger.  She grew up on the family ranch in the Squaw Gap Community in McKenzie County, N.D.  Hazel attended the Squaw Gap School through the seventh grade.  Hazel entered the eighth grade in Sidney and graduated from Sidney High School in 1940 as valedictorian of her class.  
Hazel attended Eastern Montana Normal School in Billings, Mont., which is now Eastern Montana College and received her elementary teaching certificate in 1942. At the time of her graduation she had attained the highest grade point average ever held at the college. Hazel taught elementary school in Terry, Glendive, and Sidney, Mont.
On June 8, 1946, Hazel was united in marriage to Harry French, Jr. in Glendive, Mont. They moved to Sidney where Harry was employed with the United States Postal Service.  Harry passed away Nov. 1, 1981.  Hazel continued to make Sidney her home and on March 7, 1986, she was united in marriage with Lyle Larson who passed away on Sept. 3 1994.
Hazel enjoyed life and lived it enthusiastically. She enjoyed ranch and farm life.  Her special interests were gardening, flowers, crocheting, and playing her organ for her own enjoyment.  Hazel's family which included a daughter, stepchildren, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were a true joy in her life.  Hazel was a loyal friend, wife, mother, and grandmother.  She knew and loved the Lord and was a joyful worker for him.
Hazel died on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at the Life Care Center in Lewiston, Idaho.
 Hazel is survived by her daughter, Kay Anderson of Winchester, Idaho; granddaughter, Melissa Kinzer of Lewiston, Idaho; grandson, Bryan Signalness of Vaughn, Mont.; five stepdaughters, Karen Chapman, Angel Fire, N.M., Kathy Meduna, Williston, N.D., Connie Wurst, Ouray, Colo., Corrine Maddox, Houston, Texas, and Shirley Tubbs, Fort Wayne; stepdaughter-in-law, Nicole Larson, Sidney, Mont.; two nephews, Pete Quinnell of Gillette, Wyo., and Jack Quinnell of Weston, Colo.; 18 step-grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Hazel is preceded in death by her parents Harry and Vivian Kruger; sister, Olive Quinnell; her two husbands, Harry French and Lyle Larson; and stepson, Sherwood Larson.
