Lola Becken

Funeral Services were held at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, in the Garden Lutheran Church. Pastor Rob Favorite officiated. Burial was in the Garden Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Lola was born Nov. 26, 1925, on the family farm near Berg, N.D., to Ole Jay and Ada Rice Jay. She was raised and baptized on the family farm and attended school at the Pleasant Valley School where she graduated. In her early years she baby sat and cleaned house for families near her home.  She then worked for the McKenzie County Farmer writing in the Blue Buttes Echo’s news column.
Lola married Oliver Becken after which they lived on the Becken Farm. She worked right alongside Oliver tending to the farming duties. One of her and Oliver’s favorite pass times were going to Auction Sales.  After Oliver passed away, she moved to Watford City.
Lola enjoyed tending her garden and loved all wildlife. She also enjoyed keeping in touch with family and friends on the phone and spending time with her grandchildren. She had a heart of gold, always helping people any way she could.
Because of her health she lived in a Parshall nursing home and was then transferred to Mohall, N.D., until she passed away on May 30, 2014, at the age of 88.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ole and Ada Anderson; husband, Oliver Becken; one brother, Norman Anderson; her sister, Darlene Rice and infant sister, Jane.
She is survived by her son, Mickey Anderson and wife Robin Senff Anderson of Center, N.D.; four grandchildren, Christopher Senff of Flasher, N.D., Michael Anderson, Angelo Anderson and Crystal Freeman all of Center, N.D.; seven great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters.
