Rae D. Fixen

Rae D. Fixen, 75, of Alexander, North Dakota, passed away Thursday evening, July 30, 2015, at the Mercy Medical Center in Williston, N.D. surrounded by family members.
Rae was born on June 19, 1940 in Williston, N.D., to Thelma (Dexter) and Willard Hudson. Rae was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended school in Williston, N.D., graduating in 1958. After graduation she worked as a secretary for Hart Motors.
On November 30, 1960, Rae married James Fixen in Williston, N.D.  They raised 3 boys; Doug, Kurt and Kent in Williston until 1974 when they moved to Alexander after purchasing the Alexander Market, which they operated until 1985. Rae then worked various jobs at Barb’s Café, R&M Pumpjack, Service Drug, Albertsons, and Economart Deli.
Rae loved working on different craft projects such as sewing, plastic canvas, making Easter baskets each year for her grandchildren and painting woodwork items that Jim had made. She enjoyed attending her boys’ and grandchildrens’ sporting activities. She loved a good game of Nickels, Skip-Bo or Uno. Another favorite past time was traveling to Vegas to play penny machines with her sisters and nieces. While at home you could often find her with a cup of coffee watching one of her favorite shows, Days of our Lives, Little House on the Prairie, The Waltons or the Game Show Network.
Rae is survived by her husband, James of Alexander, N.D. Her three sons; Doug of Alexander, N.D.; Kurt (Barb) of Alexander, N.D.; and Kent (Carrie) of Sidney, Mont. Six grandchildren, Jami (Randy) Murie, Joshua Fixen, Tyler Fixen, Kelcey Fixen, Cory Fixen and Janaya Fixen.  Two great-grandchildren Kailee and Kennedy Murie. Sisters; Marian Moran, Fay (James) Snyder, Gary (Jeri) Hudson. Brother and sister-in-laws, Merrill and Darlene Benth, Clara Fixen, Ellen Novak. Also surviving her are many nieces and nephews.
Rae was preceded in death by her parents, Thelma (Dexter) and Willard Hudson. Father and mother-in-law, Leonard and Elda (Abelmann) Fixen; brother and sisters, Alan Hudson, Louise Falcon, Marjorie Crough; brothers and sisters-in-law, George Novak, Harley (Elsie) Fixen, Leroy Fixen, Edna (Ervin) Rehak, Jan Hudson and DeLoris Hagen.
Her funeral was  celebrated Monday morning, August 3, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alexander, N.D. Rev. Kevin Beard officiated and interment of the cremated remains followed in the Alexander Cemetery.
