Betty Thompson

Betty Thomson, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away on Aug. 26, 2015.
A North Dakota resident most of her life, she was born Aug. 16, 1920 and grew up the oldest of nine on a ranch in Banks.
She taught one-room school and first grade before having children and was a title reading teacher before retiring. During World War II, she worked for Boeing in Seattle with her sister, Doris.
Betty instilled a love of reading, cooking, sewing, knitting, traveling, and Scrabble playing in her daughters and grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband of almost 69 years, Harvey; daughters, Joan Thompson (Drew Hamre) and Margaret Appelgren (Randy); grandchildren, Justin; Kristen Trippe (Ryan); Leah Johnson (Matt); Paul and Claire; and two great-grandchildren, Wesley and Miles. She is also survived by her siblings Kenny (Ruth); Margaret (Dallas); and David (Joan), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Her parents Anne and George Arthur Vick  and siblings Donald, Marion, Doris, Alan, and Jim predeceased her.
Our thanks to the excellent staff at Maple Grove Hospital and North Memorial Residential Hospice for their care and guidance in the final days of our mother’s life.
