Raymond Walker

Raymond P. Walker, 83, of Grassy Butte, N.D., passed away at his home surrounded by family on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016.
Ray was born December 5, 1932 to Charles and Irene (Redlin) Walker at their home south of Arnegard along the edge of the north unit of Roosevelt Park. His family lived at several different farmsteads in McKenzie County, finally settling at the Redlin family farm north of Grassy Butte in the early 1940s.
Ray married Rosie Baese in Sidney, Mont. on May 25, 1963. They had three children together, along with Rose’s son from her first marriage.
Ray served in the Army in New Foundland for two years. He worked on the Great Northern Railroad near Cartwright for nine years. He drove truck both independently for eight years and for Koch Oil for eight years. He drove rural school bus for McKenzie County for 28 years.
Ray and Rose made their home on the family farm north of Grassy Butte where they farmed, raised cattle and had big gardens. He was a hard worker who always needed to stay busy, even in the later years, tinkering in his shop or outside right up until his passing.
He enjoyed fishing, playing music and time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Ray is survived by his wife, Rose of 52 years; daughter, Sheila Walker; and grandchildren Ciara (Derek Horob) and Casey Walker; daughter, Charlene Williams (Mark Olson); and grandchildren, Breanna and Miranda Williams, all of Williston; step-son, Roy Rosaaen and wife Bonnie, their children Malinda and Shane (Jodie) Rosaaen and grandchildren Samantha and Jonathan Rosaaen all of Oregon City, Ore. area. He is also survived by two brothers, Roger (Suzanne) and Donny; one sister, Delores; sister-in-law, Marilyn; several cousins and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Art, Elwin, Chuck, Richard and Robert; two sisters, Lorraine and Charlotte; one infant brother; and his son, Wade Walker in Nov. of 2004.
His funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, at Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home in Watford City. Burial followed at the Grassy Butte Cemetery.
