Thomas Erickson

Thomas “Tom” George Erickson, 67, of Billings, Mont., formerly of Cartwright, N.D., passed away on Feb. 11, 2016, at Billings Clinic after a long battle with cancer.
Tom was born on March 30, 1948, to Warren and Mildred (Hammerbacher) Erickson of Cartwright, N.D.
He attended elementary school in Cartwright, Alexander and East Fairview, N.D. He graduated from Fairview High School in 1966.
He entered the United States Army in 1969 and was an MP at West Point.
He was blessed with two children, Wendy and Larry, from his first marriage.
He married Virginia (Ginny) Anderson on April 4, 1985. They lived north of Fairview on a rented farmstead for the first eight years of their marriage and then bought a farmstead north of Cartwright where they lived for the next 20 years.
Tom worked for the McKenzie County Road Department for 20 years as a motor grader operator. He also worked as a farm laborer and water truck driver in the oilfield.
Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the PBR, and taking care of his cats and dogs.
Tom and Ginny left the Bakken behind and moved to Billings, Mont. in May of 2012. Tom enjoyed retirement taking care of their cats and exploring all over Montana.
He is survived by his wife, Ginny Erickson, Billings, Mont.; his daughter, Wendy (Ed) Koster, Sugarloaf, Pa.; his grandchildren, Alex, Trevor, Kaianna and Julianna; his brothers, Wes (Judy) Erickson, Fairview, Mont., and Dave (Rhonda) Erickson, Williston, N.D.; his sisters, Alice Jordan, Williston, N.D., and Linda (Larry) Putnam, Sun City West, Ariz.; and his numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Larry in 1987, his parents, Warren and Mildred, his beloved little sister, Marge (Tim) Sorensen and brother in law, Ted Jordan.
Funeral services for Tom were at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, at the Lutheran Brethren Church in Sidney, Mont. A Prayer service was at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016, at Fulkerson-Stevenson Funeral Home, Sidney, Mont.
A Memorial service was held on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Yellowstone Lutheran Brethren Church in Billings, Mont.
