Nadine Sovig

Nadine Gail (Jepson) Sovig, 64, of rural Arnegard, N.D., died peacefully Thursday evening April 14, 2016, with her family by her side at her home.  
Nadine Gail Jepson was born on Sept. 15, 1951, in Cumberland, Wis., to Lola (Newville) Jepson and Francis Jepson. Nadine graduated from Turtle Lake High School in 1969.  She received a Culinary Arts certificate from Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College and later graduated from Minnesota State Community and Technical College with a degree in accounting.
Nadine met her husband Mark while working in Fargo, N.D. They were married in Williston, N.D. on April 20, 1996 and soon made their home on the Sovig homestead near Arnegard.
Nadine was active in the restaurant business for 40 years, culminating in the operation of the Arnegard Café and PDQ Supper Club. She provided outreach services for the Senior Citizens Centers in Williston and in Watford City. Nadine retired from the McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office in 2012 to spend more time with her family and travel. She loved working with and serving the public.
 She loved life on the farm, walking along the Timber Creek where she and her husband enjoyed outdoor activities and many beautiful North Dakota sunsets. Her passions included traveling, reading, good food, cooking, live music and theater. But her greatest passion was for her family, especially her grandchildren.
Nadine is survived by her husband, Mark Sovig; her sons, Greg Briese and Brian Briese, and daughter, Gayle Summers; father of her children, Jim Briese; seven grandchildren, Noel, Joeseph, Yolanda, Savanna, Bentley, Marcus and Awebrii; and, her sister, Carol Jepson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Judy Seierstad; and her granddaughter, Ariel Briese.
Friends may call at the Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home in Watford City, N.D. on Friday, April 22, 2016, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., and for the hour preceding the funeral services at the church April 23, 2016.
A service and celebration of Nadine’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Wilmington Lutheran Church in Arnegard, N.D.
