Olga Stenberg

Olga Stenberg, 88, formerly of Watford City, N.D., died Monday evening, Dec. 14, 2009, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson, N.D. Olga has been a resident at the Evergreen in Dickinson most recently. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at First Lutheran Church in Watford City. Rev. Steve Schou will officiate and interment will be held at Schafer Cemetery. Friends may share memories and condolences with the family online at www.fulkersons.com.
Olga Marie Stenberg was born Jan. 25, 1921, to Hans and Anna (Linseth) Hegseth near Corinth, N.D. She was raised and educated near Corinth. As a young woman, she cleaned house and was a nanny for the county nurse. During the Dirty Thirties, Olga and her sister, Inga, and brother, Erling, moved to Oregon to work. While there, Olga worked in the laundry industry. She later worked as a nurse in Helena and Sidney, Mont., and later in Williston.
On Feb. 15, 1956, Olga was united in marriage to Casper “Cap” Stenberg in Williston, N.D. They lived in New Town for a short time before moving four miles east of Watford City at Schafer, where they ranched and raised their family.
In 1999, Cap and Olga moved to Dickinson. Cap died in 2002 and Olga continued to live in Dickinson.
Olga was a volunteer at the House of Manna in Dickinson for many years. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and playing cards. She enjoyed children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Olga was an excellent cook and enjoyed her cats and being outside doing yard work.
She is survived by her son, Steven Stenberg, of Cole Harbor, N.D.; daughters, Betty (Boyd) Ellingson, of Shadehill, S.D., and Judy Stenberg, of Sentinel Butte, N.D.; grandchildren, Tyrell (Krista) Ellingson, of Lemmon, S.D., Kaye (Andy) Arthur, of Shadehill, S.D., and Anne Ellingson, of Lemmon, S.D.; great-grandchildren Tyler, Trevor and Kaleb Ellingson, and Coby Arthur; and sisters-in-law, Jesse Stenberg, of Watford City, N.D., Gladys Stenberg, of Minot, N.D., and Irene Hegseth, of Williston, N.D.
Olga was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Casper; sisters, Hazel, Inga and Anna; and brothers, Herman, Erling and Martin.
Friends may call at the Fulkerson Funeral Home in Watford City on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and an hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
