As the Watford City Fire Department gets ready to observe National Fire Prevention Week from Oct. 7-12, they are rolling out plans to help educate and spread the importance of fire safety and fire hazards.
“This means a lot to me to go and talk to these kids and keep them aware of what to do,” says Justin Soleim, Fire Prevention Week coordinator with the Watford City Fire Department
Soleim says it is all about going around to the schools and educating the children on fire. But more importantly, how to find an escape route if they happen to get caught in the midst of one.
“This year in 2019, we’re planning an escape,” says Soleim. “And it’s not every year that we do that.”
The firemen will visit preschoolers, kindergarten, first grade, second grade and fourth grade classes at the Watford City Elementary and Intermediate schools.
“There will be something different for each grade,” says Soleim.
