“Trail of Treats” starts off Halloween

Halloween is just around the corner, which means parents and kids have trick-or-treating on their minds and “Trail of Treats” is the perfect place to get started. For the kids trick-or-treating is all about getting the most treats, but parents are thinking about the best way to keep their kids safe while enjoying the holiday. With Halloween falling on a Saturday this year, area kids will have two chances to get treats at the annual “Trail of Treats.”
The Watford City Area Chamber of Commerce and several area businesses are teaming up again this year to organize a “Trail of Treats” down Watford City’s Main Street this Halloween. This not only gives kids a chance to get lots of great goodies, it also gives parents peace of mind knowing their kids are in a safe environment.
“The ‘Trail of Treats’ is a great way for local businesses to show their customer appreciation,” says Debbie Larsen, event coordinator. “Because not all of our local businesses are open on Saturday, we’re going to run the ‘Trail of Treats’ both Friday and Saturday.”
So from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 31, Watford City’s Main Street is going to be overrun with witches, ghosts, rock stars and all the other costumed characters as they make their way down the city’s “Trail of Treats.”
“Elementary students will be having their school Halloween parties on Friday afternoon, so we hope parents will pick up their kids and bring them to Main Street for the ‘Trail of Treats,’” adds Larsen. “After their school parties the kids are sure to be in the Halloween spirit, so what better way to kick off the holiday weekend than with the ‘Trail of Treats’ even if it’s a day early.”
Students will be getting a flyer at school with all of the participating merchants and parents are encouraged to also stop by the businesses off Main Street, like McKenzie County Bank, McKenzie County Hospital and the Watford City City Hall.
After you’ve hit the Main Street businesses on Saturday, trick-or-treaters are encouraged to stop by the Good Shepherd Home from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. for more trick-or-treating fun.
