McKenzie County Fair begins Thursday

Food, fun, entertainment and 4-H make the McKenzie County Fair a memorable experience that you won’t want to miss.
The fairground comes to life on June 24 as 4-Hers enter their livestock and homemaker exhibits for judging, while food and entertainment vendors get everything set up for three days of fair fun.
Thursday, kicks off the fair with 4-H livestock shows and the Animal Specialties Petting Zoo for animal lovers and Curly The Clown for those looking for a laugh. Also on Thursday is the Fair Parade at noon on Main Street and the Free Beef Barbecue at the fairgrounds beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Fun On The Run Amusements offer attractions that will be a fun time for the kid in all of us both Friday and Saturday. Appearing at this year’s fair will be Monkey Motion, Floating Golf and the Dalmatian Bounce and Slide.
Monkey Motion is a must for your little monkey, as he catches the jungle fever, he will jump and flip like a monkey. The Mobile Monkey Motion allows participants to soar up to 18 feet in the air and is the only kind on the market that doesn’t use bungee cords. With up to four jumpers at a time, Monkey Motion leaves everyone going bananas for more.
If soaring through the air and acting like a monkey isn’t your thing then you’ll want to check out Floating Golf. You don’t have to be Tiger Woods to enjoy Floating Golf, as this mini golf with a twist is sure to offer a good time to golfers at all levels. And for the youngest fairgoers the Dalmatian Bounce and Slide will provide hours and hours of bouncing fun.
Once you’ve had your fill at the attractions or while you take a break, you can check out the 4-H livestock shows including sheep, swine, beef breeding, market beef, small animals and the livestock auction, which run throughout the day Thursday, June 25 and Friday, June 26.
After a fun-filled day at the fair you won’t want to miss out on the McKenzie County Fair Rodeo. From the littlest cowboys and cowgirls to the oldest, memories of the rodeos and livestock events will stick with you for years to come.
The NDRA Rodeo is a must see for fair-goers of all ages. Your rodeo experience begins at 7 p.m. in the outdoor rodeo arena where you can expect to see barrel racing, steer wrestling, bronc riding and bull riding, just to name a few. If Friday night’s rodeo leaves you wanting more then you won’t want to miss the action Saturday when they do it all over again at 7 p.m.
Other events planned for Friday include the Best of the Badlands Sheepdog Demonstrations and shows with T.J. Casey - Singer/Cowboy Poet.
In addition to the NDRA Rodeo is the Youth Rodeo, the Lil’ Buckoo Rodeo, the Ice Cream Social and the Olaf Leiseth Jr. Memorial Draft Horse Competition, all held on Saturday.
