Women’s Day to offer a day of fun and entertainment

For most women, the thought of doing something just for themselves is like a far away dream that comes after doing the laundry, fixing supper and taking care of the kids. But, McKenzie County Healthcare Systems wants to change that with its annual Women’s Day Gallery of Events.
The event, which is put on by the Benefit Fund of the McKenzie County Healthcare Systems is a fun and educational evening just for women. The evening includes education, shopping, dinner and entertainment.
“This event is geared toward any woman interested in learning how to adapt a healthy lifestyle,” says Nancy Fevold, McKenzie County Healthcare Systems, infection control specialist.  “The event will also promote breast cancer awareness.”
The Women’s Day Gallery of Events begins at 3 p.m. with a gallery of booths, including information on health and wellness, as well as retail booths. But that’s just the beginning.
“The evening includes entertainment, dinner and a guest speaker,” says Fevold. “Area women and their friends are sure to have a great time.”
Guest speaker, Cathy Deics, is a nutrition and fitness expert from Bismarck. Deics has been working as a registered dietitian in various settings since 1991. She is considered an entrepreneur in the wellness arena - becoming a certified fitness professional in 1987.
Deics is known for her contagious enthusiasm and ability to teach people how to transform negative thought patterns. In addition to individual counseling, Deics has provided multiple professional presentations on health, nutrition and fitness topics to corporations, schools, universities, clubs and community groups.
“In addition to the speaker, there will be makeovers and a skit entitled ‘Menopause the Musical,’ adds Fevold. “The evening is geared towards all women.”
A limited number of tickets are available for $15 at the McKenzie County Healthcare Systems Hospital and Clinic, the Good Shepherd Home, the Healthy Hearts Wellness Center, Barrett Pharmacy & Variety and Larsen Service Drug.
The 2009 Women’s Day Gallery of Events begins at 3 p.m., Oct. 21 at Outlaws’ Bar & Grill. Contact Nancy or Mari at 842-3000 for more information.
