Bernita Florence Felland was born April 4, 1921, to George James and Cora (Swenson) Brown at Hawkeye Valley Township, N.D. She was later confirmed at the Keene First Lutheran Church.
In 1939, Bernita was united in marriage to Wesley Felland. They moved to Watford City in 1941. Together they raised four children.
Bernita sold Stanley home products for 30 years, for which she was proud.
She looked forward to visits from her family, especially from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bernita enjoyed polka and waltz music and anticipated the arrival of her tulips and peonies every spring. She loved sharing them with her neighbors, friends and family. She enjoyed watching all the birds and squirrels in her yard. She was quick to tell stories of life growing up and what life was like back then. She loved to talk about her mom and dad and all the twins in the family. She was especially proud of the fact that she had twin daughters and twin grandchildren and loved them dearly; her children meant the world to her. She was quick to help anyone in need and was a very caring person.
Bernita was a spitfire with a sense of humor. She was known to teasingly stick her tongue out at friends just to get the fun going. Her favorite and often used phrase was “Whoop-De-Doo.” In her days, some of her friends gave her the nickname “Birdie.” For many years, Bernita attended church every Saturday and Sunday and sat in the same row every Sunday. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Watford City.
Bernita was preceded in death by her husband, Westley Felland, Jr.; parents, George James and Cora Brown; brother, George, Jr.; sister, Georgette Felland; and daughter, Patricia Halter.
She is survived by her son Westley Felland, Jr.  of Sand Point, Ind.;  daughters, Phyllis Strong-Shefstad of Watford City, N.D. and Diane Ronhold of Williston, N.D.; 10 grandchildren and many great- and great- great-grandchildren.
