Betty Zingleman

Funeral service for Betty “Dolly” Zingleman, 76, of Watford City, N.D., was 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 23, 2013, at the Garden Lutheran Church in Watford City with Pastor Rob Favorite officiating. Interment was in the Schafer Cemetery in Watford City under the direction of the Fulkerson Funeral Home of Watford City.
Betty “Dolly” Andrea Johnston was born on April 8, 1936, to Andrew and Leva (Thompson) Johnston on the family farm north of Watford City. She grew up playing in the rock cliffs on the Johnston Ranch with her brothers and sister. She attended Signal School through the eighth grade and then moved to Columbia Falls, Mont.
On May 27, 1956, she married George Zingleman in the Garden Lutheran Church. They moved to Columbia Fall, Mont., and made their home there until 1979. While they lived in Columbia Falls, she enjoyed the Rocky Mountain Saddle Club and the Women of the Moose Lodge. While they lived in Montana, their two daughters, Monte and Dawn, were born.
In 1979, they moved back to Watford City and made their home north of Watford City. Dolly and George enjoyed playing cards, dancing and traveling with the Long X Wagon Train. George passed away on Aug. 25, 1997, and Dolly continued living in the family home until August 2010, at which time she moved into town.
Dolly always enjoyed a good cup of coffee at home or at the One Stop, a great game of pinochle, dancing and country western music. She taught her grandchildren how to play cards, shoot a BB gun, and fish. Her sassy spirit and love of the western way of life will be sorely missed.
Dolly passed away March 19, 2013, at her home in Watford City.
Dolly is survived by her daughters, Monte (Geoff) Gaukler, Grand Forks, and Dawn Pietron, Kalispell, Mont.; her grandchildren, Danika, Keegan, Dawson, Megan, Madison, and Reagan; her brothers, Jim (Elva Lou) Johnston (Grassy Butte), Ted (Janice) Johnston (Trenton), Punk (Phyllis) Ellingson (Fairbanks, Alaska), and Babe (Rob) Olson, Williston, N.D. She is also survived by many caring nieces and nephews.
Dolly is preceded in death by her husband, George; her mother, Leva; father, Andrew; step-father, Elmer Ellingson; and brother Carroll.
