Carl Turnquist

Carl E. Turnquist, 88, of Moorhead, Minn., passed away on Friday, May 25, 2012, at his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and his loving family.  
Carl was born Sept. 4, 1923, in Arnegard, N.D., graduated from Arnegard High School  in 1942, and served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.  He married Alice Kost in 1946, and they had one son, Mark. Alice passed away in 1957, at which time they lived in Jamestown, N.D. Carl married DeLores McLean in 1958.
Carl worked for REA Express from 1946 to 1971, then for Moorhead State University in Building Services from 1972 until retirement in 1985.
Carl is survived by his wife of 53 years, DeLores; son, Mark (Lynn); grandsons, Alan and Matthew (Patty); sister, Cecelia Allen of Missoula, Mont.; and half-brothers, Dwayne Turnquist of Arnegard, N.D., and Eugene Turnquist of Watford City, N.D.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Alma Nyberg of Trenton, N.D., and Julia Webster of New Haven, Conn.; and half-bother, Gerald Turnquist, of Arnegard, N.D.
Visitation was held on Monday, May 28, 2012, at West Funeral Home, 226 4th Ave. W., West Fargo, N.D with funeral services at 11 a.m. at Calvary Church at Village Green, 2801 Village Green Blvd, Moorhead, Minn. Burial was in the Wheatland (N.D.) Cemetery.
