Connie White Body

Connie Janet (White Owl) White Body was born on March 17, 1959, to Nina Lucy Turner-White Owl and Frank White Owl Sr. at the Watford City hospital. Connie was raised in the Independence area until 1962; Connie moved to Mandaree with her family and attended the Mandaree Public School up to the eleventh grade.
Connie married Wayne White Body Jr. in 1975. Connie and her husband moved to Bismarck, N.D., and attended United Tribes Technical College, where Connie received a certificate in Culinary Arts. Some time later, Connie moved to Minot, N.D., and worked at the Soaring Eagle. Later, she became a certified foster parent.
Connie enjoyed beading, playing at the casino, fishing with all her grandkids, going to church, attending camp meetings and revivals and she loved to travel. Connie was known for helping homeless people and anyone in need. Connie also taught Sunday School to children and she also helped support the Unity Riders in fund raising.
Connie was a well-liked individual who helped out her nieces and their children. Connie was also known as Moose; she will be missed by all who knew her. Good bye, sister dear.
Connie is survived by three daughters that she raised, Rhonda Hall, Amanda McKenzie and Claudia Vervalen all of Mandaree; her brothers, Paul (Donna) White Owl Sr., Sam White Owl, Mandaree, N.D., Jason (Toni) White Owl Sr., New Town, N.D., and Frank White Owl Jr., Bismarck, N.D.; sisters, Hazel Felix, Gladys Judy Black Hawk, Lana (Nelson) Birdbear, Frances Swift Eagle, Rosie White Owl, Christine (Trinidad) Gonzalez, Theresa (Leroy) Lockwood, all of Mandaree, N.D., and Emma Findlay, Killdeer, N.D.; adopted parents, Larry and June Lockwood of New Town, N.D.; many cousins, nephews, nieces, and grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Nina White Owl; sisters, Pauline White Owl, Nancy Mingus; nephew, John Dale White Owl; and nieces, Linda Kay White Owl, Francine Wolf and Grace Lyons.
Connie passed away at her sister Glady’s home in Mandaree.

Active Pallbearers were Keith White Owl, Matthew Yellow Wolf, Zelmer Josh White Owl, Edward Finley Jr., Robert Birdbear, Raymond Yellow Wolf Jr., Paul White Owl Jr., Benner White Owl. Honorary Pallbearers were Janelle Fevold, Janet Reimer, Bonnie Hunts Along, Tony American Horse Jr., Willamette Kidder, Andrew Reed, Lorna Hunts Along, Hope Bolman and her many friends.
Wake services were Friday, July 31, 2009. Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 1 at the Mandaree School gymnasium. Interment was at the White Owl Cemetery, Independence, N.D.
