Darrell Garmann

Darrell Nolan Garmann, age 68, left this world on Feb. 22, 2011, after a long battle with cancer. Born June 30, 1942, he was raised in Watford City, N.D.
He ventured out at age 17 to see the world. Roustabouting across the country, farming, ranching, working the oil rigs or any other type of work, he finally discovered a place he felt was “Heaven on Earth,” Reno, Nev., in 1964. After 11 years as caretaker of the Reno Library, he left to take over Walt’s Tree Service, which became well known in the area. He had realized his expertise. An outdoorsman, he loved climbing and working with the trees. He retired in 2007, after more than 30 years.
Darrell was a gregarious man who loved life, his family, and his many friends. His word was his gospel. He said what he meant and stood by his word. He found his wife in 1994, and they enjoyed and relished their years together.
Darrell was dearly loved. His wife, Anne, his surviving family, friends, and grandson, Rickey Lee, will sorely miss him.
No service is planned. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date to be announced.
