Doug Fixen

Doug Fixen, 57, of Alexander, N.D., passed away unexpectedly, near Ross, N.D., Monday morning, Sept. 10, 2018.
Doug Allen Fixen was born Dec. 17, 1960, to James Fixen and Rae (Hudson) Fixen in Williston, N.D., and was later baptized at the Rossland Church at Indian Hill. Doug attended school in Williston N.D., until his freshman year and moved with his family to Alexander, N.D., where he graduated high school in 1979. While in high school Doug participated in football, basketball and track. Doug attended 2 years at UND-W and finished with an Associate Degree in Agriculture.
After graduating from college he went to work for the fertilizer plant in Fairview. The majority of his work career was spent working for various oil field companies including B&G Roustabout, SK&S, Oasis, and most recently Renegade Well Services doing roustabout and consultant work for the duration of his life.
Some of the things Doug most enjoyed were fishing and camping at McKenzie Bay, White Earth and New Town. Doug enjoyed his annual fishing trip with the guys to Fresno Reservoir in Montana. He also enjoyed playing darts at local, state and National levels. You could always be sure that Doug had his darts and would be willing to challenge the best of the best.
Doug enjoyed spending time with his children Tyler and Janaya. He actively followed Tyler during his high school sporting events. He loved spending time hunting and fishing with Tyler and Janaya. He cherished spending his weekends with Janaya, and one of their favorite past times was making donuts with Papa Jim. He had a great love for cooking, some of his specialties were ribs and fish. Doug also had a love for good ol’ country music and would spend the night spinning around the dance floor.
Doug was loved by many and his infectious smile and laugh will be missed.
Surviving Doug are his children, Tyler (Kristin Hayes and daughter McKenzie) of Alexander, N.D., Janaya of Williston, N.D.; his father, James Fixen of Alexander, N.D.; his brothers, Kurt (Barbara) of Alexander, N.D., Kent (Carrie) of Sidney, Mont.; nieces and nephews, Jami (Randy) Murie of Alexander, N.D., Joshua of Alexander, N.D., Kelcey (Chris Hart) of Sidney, Mont., Cory of Sidney, Mont.; great-nieces, Kailee and Kennedy Murie of Williston, N.D.; and numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Preceding Doug in death is his mother, Rae Fixen; grandparents, Leonard and Elda Fixen, Willard and Thelma Hudson; and numerous Aunts and Uncles.
Cremation will take place. A celebration of Doug’s life was held at 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Alexander. Rev. Dan Paulson officiated.
Following the funeral services a fish fry in Doug’s memory at the Alexander Park was held.
