Douglas Roen

Doug was born on July 14, 1952, in Williston, N.D., to Morris and Peggy (Baye) Roen. Doug graduated from Watford City High School in 1970, and took over the family farm near Arnegard, N.D., after his father’s death around this same time.
Doug later moved to Ames, Iowa, where he worked as a carpenter and commercial construction superintendent until retirement. Over the past several years Doug enjoyed his winter months at his home in Chandler, where he eventually made his permanent residence.
Doug’s interests included golfing, carpentry and woodworking, smoking and barbecuing meats, and helping friends and neighbors, but his greatest passion was his sons and grandchildren.
Doug is survived by longtime partner, Charlene “Chuckie” Russell; sons, Chris (Jodi) Roen and Andre Roen; sister, Rita (Jim) Grantier; and grandchildren, Cale and Brenna.
Doug is preceded in death by parents, Morris and Peggy (Baye) Roen; sister, Sandra Jore; and numerous family members.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., on Nov. 3, at the Solera Chandler HOA Ballroom, 6360 S Mountain Blvd in Chandler, Ariz.
Friends and family of Doug are also invited to attend a gathering with food and beverages immediately following the service at this same location. In lieu of flowers, the family asks only for your thoughts and prayers.
