James Vick

James A. Vick, 85 of Billings, Mont., passed away Friday, Aug. 2, 2013 at a Billings Clinic.
Graveside services were held Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at Yellowstone County Veterans Cemetery. Pastor Kay Tostengard of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd officiated. Military honors were presented by the United States Naval Reserve and the American Legion.
Jim was born in Watford City, N.D., on Sept. 9, 1927, to George Arthur and Anne Vick. Jim was raised in the Banks, N.D. community, attending Banks school and Watford City High School. In 1945, he enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17. Jim was honorably discharged  in 1946.
In July of 1951, Jim married Violet Stashuk. The couple moved to Montana in 1952 where Jim managed a grain elevator for  24 years. He then went to work in highway construction until he retired in 1989.
Jim belonged to Operator Engineer Local 400, Elks Lodge and the American Legion. He enjoyed golf, traveling and his grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Doris and Marion; and brothers, Don and Alan.
He is survived by his wife Vi; two daughters, Nancy (Mike) Egeland and Susan (Stuart) Welch. Jim is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
