Jason Sandvik

Jason Sandvik, 46, of Williston, N.D., passed a Wednesday night, Nov. 15, 2017, at the Trinity Medical Center in Minot, N.D.
Jason Patrick Sandvik was born on Oct. 17, 1971 in Williston, N.D., to Lester and Margaret (Ike) Sandvik. He was raised on the family farm northwest of Williston. He was baptized at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Williston. He was confirmed at West Prairie Lutheran Church where he was still a member. Jason attended District 8 schools until 8th grade and then attended Williston High School.
In 1995 Jason was united in marriage to Stephanie Rhone. To this union, Jason’s children, Brandon and Brittany were born.
Jason worked at T&K Inspection for many years, Nabors Drilling, Hermanson Fencing and custom combining with Bob Finnicum. Jason always worked on the farm and took over the family farming in 2010 after his father, Lester, passed away.
He was the supervisor on the Hebron Township Board, which was his social event of the month. He was also a lifetime member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and The Buckmasters and a former member of the Moose Lodge #239.
Jason enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family and friends. He was born the first day of pheasant season, so his annual birthday dinner was always pheasant. He loved camping and ice fishing at Tobacco Gardens in his “ice castle” fish house. Jason’s greatest joys were spending time with Brandon and Brittany and his dog, Bailey.
Jason was always a phone call away and willing to help where needed. In April of 2015, Jason suffered a heart attack. His friends, neighbors and Farm Rescue came in May to put in the crop for that year. He was very appreciative and overwhelmed by their willingness to help.
Jason is survived by his son, Brandon (MaKenna); and his daughter, Brittany (Eric) of Watford City; mother, Margaret Sandvik of Williston; sisters, Leslie (Steve) Hanson of Minot, Julie Olson of Williston, and Kelli Sandvik (Curt Olson) of Williston; aunt, Karen Ike of Minot; numerous nieces and nephews, his dog, Bailey and his extended family.
Jason was preceded in death by his father, Lester; and his grandparents, Ruth and George Sandvik, and Ralph and Ruth Ike; and his uncle, Orren Sandvik.
His Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017, at West Prairie Lutheran Church, West of Williston. Rev. David Maxfield will officiate. Interment in St. Luke’s Cemetery will follow the service.
