Jerilyn A. Baker

Jerilyn A. Baker, 59, 901 42nd St. SE, Apt. C. Minot, died Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, in a Mandan hospital.
Jerilyn was born on Sept. 20, 1949, in Watford City, N.D., the daughter of Lenn and Shirley A. (Judkins) Elton. She was reared in the New Town area and attended school in New Town. Upon graduation, she lived in various areas of the United States.
In 1976, she moved to Watford City, and later to Williston, Westhope, Granville and Velva where she worked in food service in those areas. She did attend Josef’s School of Hair Design in Minot and later taught and managed there. She also worked at Choice Hotel Call Center in Minot and Northrop Grumman Corporation in New Town. The last years she was a homemaker.
Jerilyn married John Baker on Aug. 8, 1986, in Velva.
Jerilyn loved to crochet, read and did anything she could for her grandchildren. She was a former member of Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva.
Jerilyn is survived by her husband, John Baker, Minot, whom she was with for thirty years; sons, Scott O. Heim, Hastings, Fla., Brad L. (Barb) Heim, Bismarck, N.D, and Marty N. Heim, Layton, Utah.; seven grandchildren, Kristina A. Heim, Tucker L. Heim, Samantha M. Heim, Kaiden J. Heim, Seth S. Heim, Annabelle M. Prevatt and Tyler K. Heim; father, Lenn Elton, Williston; brothers and sisters, Randy D. Elton, Kingman, Ariz., Debbie L. Bolken, Fargo, N.D., Gary D. (Sandy) Elton, Gillette, Wyo., Mike G. (Lorna) Elton, New Town, N.D., and Mitch A. Elton, Beulah, N.D. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley A. Elton; grandparents, Guy and Elanor Judkins and Alfred and Kate Elton.
Funeral services were Sept. 15, 2009, at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, N.D. Burial was Sept. 15, 2009, at Our Redeemer’s Cemetery in rural Keene, N.D.
The family prefers memorials.
