Marge Kieson

Marge Kieson, 84, a longtime McKenzie County resident, died at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Watford City, N.D., Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at Clear Creek Lutheran Church in Keene. Pastor Rob Favorite officiated and burial followed at Clear Creek Cemetery.
Margie Lou (Skarda) Kieson was born on the family farm north of Charlson, N.D., on Jan. 7, 1928, to Lewis and Jessie (Falls) Skarda. She was raised on the family farm and attended River Bottom School through the eighth grade. She graduated from Sanish High School in 1944. She attended Minot College to receive her standard teaching certificate and taught in rural schools near Parshall, Ross and Keene.
While teaching at the Dodge School near the Kieson homestead, Margie met her future husband, Willard. They were married Oct. 18, 1948, at her parents' home near Sanish. The couple made their new home on the Kieson ranch. She lived there until October 2012.
Over the years, Margie was very active in all phases of the ranch work.  She loved the farm and ranch life, and all of the animals that went with it, but she especially loved horses.  She not only handled outdoor work, but was a very good cook.  She was known for her delicious buns and always had plenty of baked goods ready to serve the many visitors and card players that came by her home.
The job Margie was best at was being a grandma. Her world revolved around her grandkids. She attended as many of their activities as possible, from basketball games to piano recitals, band concerts, to all their rodeos, Margie would be there.  Her grandkids were her pride and joy. There was not a better place for grandkids to be than being spoiled by Grandma.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Jessie; husband, Willard; and brothers, Bob and Bill.
She is survived by her son, Bryant, his wife, Jane and their children, Chad (Rhonda), Torey (Jodi), and Jessica; her son, Brooks, his wife, Linda and their children, Ryan (Nicole), and Brandon (Amanda); her daughter, Cindy, her husband, Marcus Gonzales and their children, Jarred (Shadley) and Stacey; her son, Craig, his wife, Carol and their children, Mamie andSadie; her brother, Jack and his wife, JoAnn; her sister-in-law, Grace and her husband, Tommy Baker; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
