Maxine R. Rogness


Maxine R. Rogness, 85, of Watford City, N.D., passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at the Trinity Medical Center in Minot, N.D.
Memorial Services were held May, 24, 2014, at the First Lutheran Church in Watford City. Pastor Rob Favorite officiated.
Maxine was born in Charlson, N.D., and a lifelong resident of McKenzie County, N.D. She was born Dec., 5, 1928 to Clyde Boots and Dollie Howe Boots.
She married Calvin Poole in 1947 and had three children, Cheryl, Arlene “Cindy” and Darlene “Pee Wee.” In 1955, Calvin died of a heart attack at the age of 31. After Calvin’s death, Maxine worked at various cafes. She then married Lyle Rogness in 1956 and had four children, Lois, Roberta, Lyle, Jr. and Kevin.
She worked at the Good Shepherd Home in Watford City when it first opened in 1963, having worked there for over 18 years. Maxine was a member of the VFW, American Legion Auxiliary and the Eagles Auxiliary. She loved sewing and making quilts for her children and spending time with family and friends.
Maxine is survived by her two sons, Kevin Rogness and his significant other, Cristan of Burlington, N.D., and Lyle Rogness, Jr. (Sherry) of N.H.; five daughters, Cheryl Hanna (Gary) of Washington, Arlene “Cindy” Kummer of Watford City, N.D., Darlene “Pee Wee” Bernethy (Richard) of Texas, Lois Haugland (Steve) of Utah and Roberta Rogness of Watford City, N.D.; five brothers, Robert Boots (Sophie), Leland Boots (Marie), Russell Boots, Rodney Boots (Debbie) and Dale Boots; three sisters, Katherine Gauthier, Marie Poole and Marlene Fowler; fourteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Boots and Dollie Howe Boots; her first husband, Calvin Poole; her former husband, Lyle Rogness; two brothers, Curtis Boots and Elgin Boots and one sister, Mava Boots.
