Orrin Hovland

Funeral services for Orrin Hovland, 51, of Watford City, were on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at the First Lutheran Church in Watford City with Pastor Rob Favorite officiating. Musical selections were provided by Garrett Gudmunsen, Colene Ninneman and Caroline Schwartz. Casketbearers were Matthew Hovland, Aaron Hovland, Allison Hovland, Brandon Hovland, Rick Hovland, and Davey Hovland. Ushers were Ken Hovland and Ron Broderson. Interment was at the Schafer Cemetery, Watford City, N.D. Orrin died on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, in Minot, N.D.
Orrin Raymond was born on May 10, 1961, in Elgin, N.D., the son of Raymond and Joyce (Waddell) Hovland. He grew up and attended schools in Wyoming and North Dakota, graduating from high school in Valley City, N.D., in 1980. After graduation, he went to NDSS in Wahpeton, N.D., for a year. While in high school, Orrin worked for the Dakota Railroad, and after his year in Wahpeton, he returned to the railroad to work. In 1982, Orrin moved to Watford City and started working for Chinook Pipeline. In June of 1983, Orrin married Vonnie Hoyt and to this union they had three children, Blaine, Christopher, and Dustin. In 1983, he started working for R & J Oil Field Service until 1989, when he started working for Frontier Wellhead. He then worked for Wood Group Pressure Control before returning to Frontier Wellhead. Orrin, just a short time ago, started working for Cameron as account manager, where he was working at the time of his death. In 2000, Orrin started dating Wanda Brown and to this union they had a daughter, Cambree.
Orrin was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Watford City. He loved to hunt, fish, and cook. He had many kitchen gadgets to get his cooking done. Orrin was very proud of the first paddle fish he caught. He enjoyed his 4-wheeler, jet ski and camper and he had a love for lawn mowers.
He is survived by his children, Blaine (Jennifer) Hovland, Dustin Hovland, and Cambree Hovland, all of Watford City, and Christopher (Rebecca) Hovland, of Finley, N.D.; his mother, Joyce Hovland; his father, Raymond Hovland; his brother, Warren (Laurie) Hovland, all of Watford City, N.D.; his sister-in-law, Deborah Hovland, of Bismarck, N.D.; his long time companion, Wanda Brown and her daughters, Chandra, Madison, and Abby Brown, of Watford City, N.D.; his grandchildren, Beau, Casey, and Luke Hovland; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Owen; his sister, Allene; grandparents, Wendell and Zola Waddell, Henry Hovland and Alma Hovland.
