Ralph Gravos

Ralph E. Gravos, 67, formerly of Williston, N.D., passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Lutheran Home in Watford City, N.D.
Ralph was born Sept. 6, 1948, to Harold and Lillian (Gilstad) Gravos in Williston, N.D. He was raised on the family farm, and graduated from Watford City High School.  
On July 5, 1968, Ralph married Ellen Tidemann in Williston, N.D. From this union one child was born, Kelly Gravos, born in Williston, N.D.  They were happily married until Ellen’s passing in 2006.  
After graduation Ralph worked for numerous oil companies and eventually owned and operated his own. He worked in N.D., Colo., Wyo. and Mont. in the oil and pipeline industry.
While Ralph enjoyed his work, his true passion was hunting and fishing, which led him to create his own fishing and hunting guide service. His picture is still visible in The Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame in Hayward, Wis. Ralph was particularly fond of fishing and guiding on Lake Sakakawea, Lake Oahe and Fort Peck. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and laughing while telling stories and jokes.  
Ralph is survived by his son, Kelly (Joy) Gravos and two grandsons, Nikolaas and Sammuel Gravos, of Pewaukee, Wis.; mother, Lillian Gravos of Watford City, N.D.; sisters, Irene Freed of Williston, N.D., Judy Opsta of Bismarck, N.D.; brothers, Duane Gravos of Watford City, N.D.; Lynn (Marilyn) Gravos of Minot, N.D.; and Harlan (Angie) Gravos of New Castle, Wyo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Gravos, and his father, Harold Gravos.
A celebration of life service was held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 14, at Fulkerson Funeral Home in Watford City, N.D. Pastor Rob Favorite officiated.
