Rose was born to John and Zena Stashuk on July 2, 1924, in Kinsella, Alberta, Canada.
She spent her early childhood in Grassy Butte, Marquis Township, McKenzie County, North Dakota. Rose was one of 12 children in all.
After her father passed in 1934, the family moved to Watford City, North Dakota, where she grew up and eventually trained at the National Youth Administration in the trade of welding.
After graduating from welding training, Rose and her good friend Katie moved to Seattle for work. Shortly after arriving in Seattle, Rose met Burton Benn and on Oct. 31, 1942, they were married.
Their first child, Robert Benn, was born in 1943 and in 1947 they had their second child, Beverly Benn.
During that time, Rose was a stay at home mother and enjoyed spending time with her children. They enjoyed watching the Seattle Rainier's baseball games at Sick’s Seattle Stadium. Rose obtained full-time employment with Sears-Roebuck in 1960 and worked there for 27 years until they closed the distribution center at which time she retired.
Burton and Rose purchased a motor home and enjoyed traveling and site seeing throughout the United States. They enjoyed fishing and would go deep sea fishing in Westport, Washington.
Burton passed away on June 25, 1998.
Rose enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren and loved to laugh and photograph her loved ones. She loved to listen to country western music and was always a fan of Elvis Presley. Her favorite pastime was spent feeding the squirrels, rabbits, and birds that greeted her in her backyard.
