Stayce Tachenko

Funeral service for Stayce V. Tachenko, 94, of Grassy Butte was at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at the Grassy Butte Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Bob Forbes officiating. Burial was in the Grassy Butte Seventh Day Adventist Church Cemetery.
Stayce passed away Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at the Hill Top Home of Comfort in Killdeer, N.D.
Stayce Violet Moseanko was born on July 17, 1915, in Butte, N.D., the daughter of Victor and Olga (Borisuk) Moseanko. Stayce attended grade and high school in the Butte area. After receiving a teaching degree at Union College in Lincoln, Neb., she taught elementary school in Colorado as well as in the central North Dakota area. On July 9, 1945, Stayce married Gus Tachenko. They lived on the M Lazy T Ranch in western North Dakota near Grassy Butte where she was a ranch wife as well as continuing her career as an elementary school teacher. They had two children, Cody and Shirley.
She loved her role as a leader in church and community activities, and as an elementary school teacher. She was a cherished family member.
She is survived by her children, Cody (Janell) Tachenko, Grassy Butte, and Shirley Tachenko Achord, Lincoln, Neb.; grandchildren Angi Kennedy, Belfield, N.D., and her children, Thomas, Sierra and Christopher; Bryan (Julie) Tachenko, Beach, N.D., and their children, Kyle and Caleb; Mindy (Esley) Henderson, Keene, N.D., and their children, Taten and Rahnie Grace; Samuel Achord, London, England, and John Achord, Lincoln, Neb.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Stayce is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Anne Karpenko; and her brothers, Alex, William, John and George.
Any memorials will be given to Adventist Community Services.
