Timothy Grotte

Timothy Grotte, 61, of Watford City, N.D., died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck. His funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at First Lutheran Church in Watford City. Pastor Rob Favorite officiated and interment was at the Schafer Cemetery in Watford City.
A lifelong resident of Watford City, N.D., Timothy T. Grotte was born on August 30, 1951, to Joel and Edythe (Skadron) Grotte. He was raised in Watford City, N.D., where he attended both Elementary and High School.
Tim met his wife Bonnie (Walker) in 1972. He and Bonnie were united in marriage on Aug. 1, 1975, at First Lutheran Church in Watford City, N.D. After they were married, Tim and Bonnie remained in Watford City where Tim worked numerous oil field jobs.
On Aug. 15, 1978, Tim and Bonnie had their first child, Derek. Five years later Nov. 13, 1983, they had their daughter, Desiree.
Tim started doing reclamation and dirt work in the early 90s. He worked for many road construction companies in which he worked all over the state. Whatever Tim had to do to provide for his family, he did it. He spent many weeks away from Bonnie and the kids. Taking care of his family was always his first priority.
Tim and Bonnie loved the outdoors. They were both members of the shooting range in Watford City and really enjoyed trap shooting. Tim was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed deer hunting, bird hunting and fishing. Tim was very familiar with North Dakota and had some of the best hunting grounds known to man.
In Tim’s later years, he became very fond of Wyoming and the Big Horn Mountains. He would load up the truck and head for the mountains at least a few times a year and meet with his friend, Dan Harkins, and brother, Gary. Tim, Dan, and Gary fished numerous streams and lakes in Wyoming, giving him the itch a little more each year. Tim also loved taking his grandson, Tayson, to Wyoming, making sure they stopped at every McDonald’s on the way. Tim became an avid fly fisherman, and any chance he had to take his grandson fishing, they went! Tayson was Tim’s pride and joy.
Tim had a sense of humor that will forever hold a special place in our hearts. He was a jokester and quite the impersonator. He was well known and loved by so many in the community. Before his passing, Tim was working for CSI/HUS Construction in Watford City, N.D.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Bonnie, of Watford City; daughter, Desiree and grandson Tayson Grotte, of Watford City; sister, Kaye (Gary) Foster of Maple Grove, Minn.; brothers, Gary (Barb) Grotte of Gillette, Wyo.; Michael Grotte of Glenburn, N.D.; and Kim Grotte of Watford City, N.D.; and numerous neices, nephews, and cousins.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Joel and Edythe Grotte; a sister, Jann Grotte; nephew, Michael Grotte; and his beloved son, Derek J. Grotte.
