Yvonne Kuvaas

Yvonne Kuvaas, 72, of Watford City, N.D., died at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Watford City on Sunday evening, Oct. 11, 2009. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at Wilmington Lutheran Church in Arnegard. Pastor Tim Swenson officiated and interment was held at Wilmington Lutheran Cemetery. Yvonne Noreen Kuvaas was born March 14, 1937, to Sigvart and Ruby (Olson) Auren in Cooperstown, N.D. She was raised and educated in Cooperstown. She was married to Robert Senff and the couple lived in Georgetown for a time before moving to Ray, N.D., where they raised their family. They later divorced and Robert passed away in 1979.
On Dec. 28, 1977, Yvonne was united in marriage to Howard Kuvaas at Moorhead, Minn. The couple moved to Watford City in the early 1980s where Howard worked in the oil field. They later moved to California for a time, and in 1992, moved to Arnegard, N.D. Howard died in 2008.
Prior to Howard’s death, Yvonne entered the Parshall Nursing Home, and in 2008, she entered the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Watford City.
Yvonne was a member of Wilmington Lutheran Church. She enjoyed singing, listening to country music, dancing, playing bingo, and loved their dog, Twiggie. She loved playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always enjoyed making people laugh and she had a wonderful sense of humor.
She is survived by her sons, William Senff of Savage, Mont., and Anthony Auren of Brawley, Calif.; daughters, Lynne Strom of Dickinson, N.D., LaVeta (David) Kummer of Watford City, N.D., and Robin (Michael) Anderson of Keene, N.D.; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Vern Auren of Flandreau, S.D.; and sisters, Margie Wolfswinkle, of Hetterdahl, Minn., Beth Matter, of Callaway, Minn., and LaVeta Longtime, of Moorhead, Minn.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents; and husbands, Robert Senff and Howard Kuvaas.
