An unusually cold and snowy spring has limited the Watford City High School girls golf team to just two meets so far this season. And the bad news is that they only have two meets left.
But still, Kelli Taylor, girls’ head coach, says that the team is improving and will finish the season strong.
“The girls golfed great, considering in their first meet at Bowman, we had not been on a course yet,” stated Taylor
Allison Monsen, a senior, led the team with a 103 with Sydney Slais following with 107. The other members of the team who golfed in Bowman were Jordan Sparby, Brea Jore, Karissa Monsen and Kasi Sorenson.
The Wolves’ second meet was in Hazen where the team battled the wind and cold temperatures to finish in fifth place with a score of 447.
Jordan Sparby led the team with a 108, followed by Sydney Slais with a 112, Brea Jore with a 113, Allison Monsen with a 114, Jayden White Owl with a 136, and Kasi Sorenson  with a138.
“Our team is fairly young this year with only two seniors, Allison Monsen and Jayden White Owl,” states Taylor. “Allison did very well for us last year as she qualified for the state tournament.”
Also on the team are juniors, Sydney Slais and Jordan Sparby, along with sophomore, Kasi Sorenson, and freshmen, Brea Jore and Karissa Monsen.
“Unfortunately, with the late start of the season, we only have two golf meets left,” states Taylor. “These meets are qualifying meets and will  be held in Watford City on May 7 and 14.”
