Jorgenson wins State Bareback title

Nine Watford City High School rodeo contestants qualified for the state finals in Bowman, June 12-14. The team included Kara Langerud, Jayden Leiseth, Justin Dahl, Cheyanne Berquist, Seth Indergard, Cody Brown, Clay Jorgenson, Nick Armour, and Dalton Wright.
Earning points in the first two long go-rounds was Kara Langerud in barrel racing, Jayden Leiseth in pole bending, Cody Brown and Clay Jorgenson in bareback riding, Justin Dahl in steer wrestling, and Seth Indergard in steer wrestling and team roping.
Sunday was the short-go, which included the top 12 of each event. Justin Dahl won the short-go in steer wrestling with a time of 6:27. Clay Jorgenson won the bareback riding with a score of 67.
The contestants with the top four total points for the year will represent North Dakota at the National High School Rodeo Association Finals. Seth Indergard won second place in steer wresling and also earned fourth place in team roping with his partner, Colton Backhaus. Cody Brown won third place in bareback riding and Clay Jorgenson won the state championship in bareback riding. These three will compete at the national finals in Rock Springs, Wyo., in July.
