Karson Pederson earned the right to advance to the State B Girls Golf Tournament with a second place finish at the Region 6 Golf Tournament on May 6. Pederson, who carded an 18-hole score of 96 on the Ray Golf Course, is the only member of the Wolves’ girls golf team qualifying this year.
“Karson played a strong game and really putted well,” stated LeRoy Bettenhausen, girls’ head coach. “ Overall, the varsity team played hard at the Region 6 Meet and had a good season.”
Other Watford City golfers who competed at the Region Meet with scorers were Krystle Folland, 102;  Emilie Anderson, 108; Shaunta Miller, 108; Samantha Schwan, 112;  and Bessie Schmitz, 118.
Watford City finished in fourth place at the Region Meet with a score of 416. The top three teams qualified for state.
The North Dakota State Class B Girls Golf Meet will be held May 26-27 at the CrossRoads Golf Course in Carrington.

JV Golf Team Closes Out Season

The Watford City Junior Varsity girls golf team closed out its season at the Painted Woods Golf Course in Washburn on May 16.
Pacing Watford City in the invitational were Emily Ramage, who finished in sixth place with a 113, while Sydney Slais placed 10th with a 120.
“Washburn’s course was a great challenge for the Junior Varsity team,” stated Bettenhausen. “The course had many hazards, making the girls focus on course management and club selection. I am very pleased to have two players in the top 10.”
Also competing for the Wolves were Maty Benth, 129; Taylor Dwyer, 133; Allison Monson, 137; and Brooke Sanford, 140.
