Spikers enter District 15 Tourney as No. 2 seed

Watford City’s varsity volleyball team wrapped up its regular season action this week as they traveled to Belfield and Hazen. The Wolves will now be moving on to the District 15 Tournament, which will begin on Oct. 29 at Trinity Christian in Williston.
The Wolves, who have a 21-8 season record, will be the No. 2 seed in the tournament and will receive a first round bye. Watford City’s first action in the tournament will be on Tuesday, Oct. 30 and will be against the winner of the New Town vs. White Shield game. The game will be played 25 minutes after the completion of the 6 p.m. game.
This past week, the Wolves lost to Dickinson Trinity 3-1 on the road.

“As a team, we struggled against Dickinson Trinity,” stated Nancy Deutsch, Wolves head coach. “We had too many blocking errors and that didn’t help with our digs.”
Watford City won the first game of the match 25-20 but the Titans took the next three games 25-22, 25-12 and 25-18 to win the match.
Amanda Mogen had 12 kills, while Tori Hopkins had three service aces and 16 assists to lead the Wolves on offense. Defensively, Taylor Dwyer had three blocks and McKayla Haugeberg had 22 digs.
