Watford City’s varsity volleyball team saw its winning streak come to an end last Tuesday as the Wolves fell to the New England Tigers in three games. The Tigers bested the Wolves to snap Watford City’s winning streak at 10 straight wins.
The next action for the Wolves, who now have a 10-1 overall record and a 2-0 record in district play, will be at the Dickinson Tournament on Friday and Saturday before traveling to Stanley for a matchup against the Blue Jays on Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Watford City 0, New England 3
After losing to Watford City in a pair of games in the gold division semifinals of the Watford City Invitational on Sept. 13, New England turned the table on the Wolves last Tuesday as the Tigers emerged the three-game winner.
In a very uncharacteristic match for the Wolves, Watford City never was able to establish a sustained offensive rhythm, and the Wolves found themselves playing defense most of the evening.
In three hard-fought games, the Tigers won the first game, 25-23, and then went on to down Watford City, 25-21 and 25-19, in the next two games.
Tarynn Jacobson led the Wolves with four service aces, while Ricki Lindley had seven kills and Katie Mogen had six blocks.
Individual statistics for Watford City from the match were as follows:
Aces: Tarynn Jacobson, 4; Kara Langerud, 3; Ricki Lindley, 2.
Kills: Lindley, 7; Katie Mogen, 6; Alli Mogen, 5.
Blocks: K. Mogen, 6; Lindley, 1.
Assists: Tarynn Jacobson, 6; A. Mogen, 6.
Digs: Lindley, 8; Bailee Garmann, 6; A. Mogen, 5.
