Walleye keep on winning

Watford City split with Sidney but came back to sweep Tioga and Crosby in American Legion baseball action this past week. The Walleye’s record now stands at 14-2 overall and 8-0 in league play.
This week, the Walleye will travel to Glendive on July 7 and then host Sidney on July 13.

The Walleye won the first game of double-header action against Sidney winning the first game 13-6 before losing the second game 13-9.
In the first game, the Walleye got to a 3-2 first-inning lead and then scored four runs in the fourth inning to lead 7-2 en route to the win.
Ben Haugeberg earned the win on the mound for the Walleye striking out seven batters while giving up six hits.
At the plate, Haugeberg was three for three with three RBIs, one double and two runs; Dillon Langerud was three for five with a double and two runs, Trey Jacobson was two for four with a double, one RBI and four runs; Doug Nordby was two for five with a double and two RBIs; and Paul Martin was one for four with a RBI and three runs.
In the second game, after playing to a 2-2 tie at the end of the second inning, Sidney outscored the Walleye 11-7 in the final five innings to take the win.
Dillon Langerud took the loss on the mound for Watford City.
At the plate, Trey Jacobson was three for five with a double, a RBI and two runs; Dillon Langerud was five for five with two RBIs and two runs; Doug Nordy was three for four with a RBI and one run; Nick Liebel was one for five with two RBIs; and Doug Rolfson was one for four with two RBIs.

The Walleye scored 13 runs on 23 hits as Watford City swept Tioga 8-0 and 5-4 last week in American Legion play.
“We did a good job in the first game as Trey was outstanding on the mound,” stated Pat Spacher, Walleye head coach. “In the second game, it took us a while to get going but the kids again showed a lot of character with another comeback win.”
In the first game, Trey Jacobson picked up a shutout as he held Tioga scoreless while striking out 14 batters and giving up just two hits.
At the plate, Trey Jacobson was two for three with a double and two runs; Dillon Langerud was two for four with a run; Nick Liebel was two for three with a RBI and one run; Doug Rolfson was one for three with a RBI; Doug Nordby was three for four with two RBIs and one run; Chris Larsen was one for three with two RBIs and one run; and Blake Wold was one for three with a RBI.
In the second game, Watford City had to battle back from a 4-0 deficit at the end of three innings of play.
Paul Martin earned the win on the mound for the Walleye.
At the plate, Dillon Langerud was two for four with two RBIs and had the game winning hit in the fifth inning; Doug Nordby was two for two with two runs and Brandon Taylor was three for three with a RBI and two runs.

After winning the first game against Crosby 14-10 the Walleye completed their sweep of the Comets taking the second game 11-1.
“The kids did a great job hitting throughout the double-header,” stated Spacher. “Doug Rolfson really battled pitching and we didn’t help him much defensively. It was nice to sweep but we know we have to do a much better job of fielding the ball as we get ready for a post-season run.”
In the first game, the Walleye scored 14 runs on 14 hits with Doug Rolfson picking up the win striking out 12 batters and giving up nine hits.
At the plate, Trey Jacobson was four for four with a double, a RBI and three runs; Dillon Langerud was one for three with a double and three runs; Nick Liebel was one for one with three RBIs and two runs; Doug Rolfson was four for four with a double and two RBIs; Doug Nordby was two for four with two doubles and two RBIs; and Chris Larsen was one for four with a RBI.
Nick Liebel earned the win on the mound for Watford City in the second game striking out two batters in three innings of work.
At the plate, Ben Haugeberg was two for two with a double, three runs and four RBIs; Adam Brenna was one for two with two RBIs and a run; Jayden Grotte was one for two with a RBI and a run; and Paul Martin was one for one with a double and two RBIs.
