The Watford City varsity boys basketball team improved their season record to 9-1 as the Wolves defeated Tioga 52-51, North Shore/Plaza/White Shield 77-37, and Divide County 62-52.
This week, the Wolves will be on the road as they travel to Bowman on Saturday.
Watford City 52, Tioga 51
It has never been easy for Watford City to win at Tioga in boys basketball and last Tuesday evening, the Wolves once again found themselves scrambling to earn a win over the Pirates.
While Watford City enjoyed comfortable leads throughout the game, Tioga would always find a way to get themselves back into the contest. And with less than five seconds on the clock, Tioga had the chance to win, but a contested layup came up short to give the Wolves the win.
Watford City posted an 18-10 first quarter lead before Tioga outgunned the Wolves 20-11 in the second quarter to take a 30-29 halftime lead.
In a close second half, Watford City held a one-point, 43-42, lead at the end of three quarters of play and then held on to take the win.
Trey Jacobson and Shawn Fulwider paced the Wolves in scoring with 18 and 10 points, respectively. Also scoring for Watford City was Nick Liebel with nine points, Dillon Langerud with six points, Tyler Bates and Reid Johnson with four points each and Lucas Nicholson with one point.

Watford City 62, Divide County 52
After jumping out to an 11-2 lead within the first two minutes of play, it looked like Watford City was going to pick up a very easy win over Divide County during Super Saturday action at the Williston State College on Saturday. But that was definitely not the case as the Maroons made the Wolves earn every basket that they made.
Watford City held a commanding 22-6 first quarter lead but the Maroons made the game interesting as Divide County took advantage of poor three-point shooting by the Wolves to battle back into the game. For the game, the Wolves connected on just three of 18 behind the arc.
The Wolves led Divide County 31-21 at halftime and 45-33 at the end of three quarters.
