Watford City’s varsity girls softball team split this past week as the Wolves knocked off Ray, 21-8, before falling to Bottineau, 5-1.
The Wolves’ bats were busy on Monday as Watford City scored 20 runs in the first three innings to dominate the Jays.
While Ray would rally for six runs in the third inning, Watford City got back on top with nine runs of their own to cap off the 15-run inning.
Watford City easily handled Ray’s pitching as eight Wolves’ hitters combined for 21 hits, 11 RBIs and 20 runs scored.
The Wolves matched up against a much tougher opponent on Tuesday as Watford City took on Bottineau.
Bottineau jumped out to a quick lead with Mikka Haugeberg scoring the Wolves’ only run with a solo homer in the sixth inning. Watford City dropped the game, 5-1.
